A major financial gift is coming to Elmhurst University — and it could have a lasting impact on business students for years to come.

Elmhurst University has received an estate commitment of more than $1.5 million from an anonymous alumnus and member of the university’s Board of Trustees, with the funding designated to support the School of Business.

The gift will help establish an endowed professorship while expanding educational opportunities for students pursuing careers in business.

More Than $1.5 Million Committed to Elmhurst University

The donor, who graduated from Elmhurst University and currently serves on its Board of Trustees, has chosen to remain anonymous.

The estate commitment will ultimately create an endowed professorship within the School of Business.

Endowed faculty positions can provide long-term financial support for universities, helping schools recruit and retain faculty members while supporting teaching, research and academic programs.

For Elmhurst University, the gift represents a long-term investment in its business programs and the students who participate in them.

A $150,000 Scholarship Is Also Being Created

The estate gift isn't the donor's only contribution.

Through ongoing donations, the alumnus is also funding a $150,000 endowed scholarship designed specifically for undergraduate students studying business.

That scholarship will provide another source of financial assistance for future Elmhurst University students while continuing to grow over time.

Together, the scholarship and future professorship are designed to strengthen both sides of the educational experience — supporting the students attending the university and the faculty members teaching them.

Supporting the Next Generation of Business Professionals

Elmhurst University's School of Business offers programs across a wide range of fields, including:

  • Accounting

  • Finance

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Business analytics

  • Logistics

  • Supply chain management

  • Business intelligence

The new funding could help strengthen opportunities for students preparing to enter these fields while supporting the university's ability to develop and expand its business programs.

A Long-Term Investment in Elmhurst

Large university gifts aren't just about the immediate dollar amount.

Endowed scholarships and professorships are structured to provide support well into the future, meaning this contribution could benefit generations of Elmhurst University students and faculty members.

It also represents another investment in higher education right here in Chicago's western suburbs.

With more than $1.5 million committed through the donor's estate and an additional $150,000 scholarship being established, the impact of the gift could extend far beyond a single graduating class.

For Elmhurst University, it's a significant contribution — and for future business students, it could open doors to opportunities that otherwise may not have been possible.
